Chlorophyll Water Recipe

Caring for your pet

by Chefs and Dogs

This recipe is focusing on a healthy easy way to help your dog's body repair, boost and detox with ingredients that can be grown at home. We have had plenty of rain lately and a short trip out to our herb garden meant we couldn't let all this fresh green goodness go to waste.

The high use of chemicals on fruits, vegetables and even herbs when purchasing from a store is something that should be always kept in mind and questions asked when purchasing. We also encourage every pet parent to check the ingredients of the food they are feeding, this is why we love Big Dog Pet Foods as the recipes they create for meal time are 100% natural.

Equipment

⦁ Blender

⦁ Knife

⦁ Bowl

⦁ Straining cloth

⦁ Jar

⦁ Sieve

 Ingredients

⦁ 1/2 bunch parsley

⦁ Handful of spinach

⦁ 1/2 bunch coriander

⦁ 300ml filtered water

Step 1: Roughly chop parsley, spinach & coriander and place into a blender.

Step 2: Cover with 300ml of filtered water and blend for 60 seconds.

Step 3: Strain through a cloth and sieve.

Step 4: Save the pulp, this can be frozen and used when needed as a green food colouring on a dog cake, dehydrated and mixed through dog friendly toothpaste or even mixed fresh with your dog's dinner.

Step 5: Store chlorophyll water in the fridge and use it within 7 days.

Dosage daily (shake well before serving)

Small dog: 20 mL

Medium dog: 40 mL

Large dog: 60 mL

We also recommend talking to a holistic vet or dog nutritionist when including new foods to your dogs diet.

Once the chlorophyll water is ready, small amounts can be added to your dogs drinking bowl, used to rehydrate Big Dog Little Bites or even mixed with your dog's favourite bone broth to give it even more of a boost.

Chlorophyll is the green pigment which is found in most algae and plants. Essentially it's what allows the plant to absorb energy from the sun / light.
