It’s the best, right? (Answer: yes, right!). Do you know what makes iteven better? Spending the holidays withyour pups!

If you’re lucky enough to get the full 4 days off (Good Friday to Easter Monday), that’s a total of 96 hours of quality pet-parent time! #yay!

We’ve put together some hot-cross-tips for how to celebratethe best way possible with your dog this Easter. From making an Easter hunt foryour pooch to keeping them clear of dangerous foods, healthy travel treats andremembering to stock up early, it’s all listed for you below.

How to make an Easter hunt for your dog

Why should us humans have all the fun of hunting for treats during Easter?

To help keep your pooches included in family celebrations,we’ve come up with two fun (and healthy!) hunts you could do with your dogthese holidays. Both of these scent games use our Big Dog Little Freeze DriedBites. See where to buy here. Freeze dried bites have a delicious smellthat your pet will love and that scent works really well for your dog to hunt!

Hunt #1: “Snuffle Sniffer”

How it works:

  1. For this hunt, you will need a snuffle mat. You can purchasone from our pals Snuffle Time
  2. With your dog out of sight, hide the freeze-dried bites in the felt of the snuffle mat.
  3. Once hidden, bring your dog into the room and help guide them the of the smell of the treats in the mat.

Hunt #2: “Backyard Explorer”

How it works:

  1. With your dog out of sight, hide the freeze-dried bites around your backyard. You can place them in mowed grass, on pathways, beside flowerbeds, under bushes or on flat surfaces. If you live in an apartment with an indoor dog (or don’t have a backyard), you can just do the hunt inside! Simply place the bites around the area. But be sure not to put the treats in places where your dog isn’t allowed or could damage household items from being over-excited!
  2. Once hidden, put your dog on their leash and guide them to the smell of the hidden treats.

Some extra hunting tips:

Don’t hide too many treats, or your pet will end up eatingtoo much! Alternatively, once your dog has found all of the treats you’vehidden, you can put some aside and feed them later.

❗CAUTION❗ – don’t let your dog near choc!

So in-case you haven’t heard, chocolate is a MASSIVE no-no for dogs. Chocolate is toxic for dogsand can make them very sick. The wrapping that most Easter treats are packagedin can also be incredibly dangerous to dogs, so keep an eye on your pets duringthe holidays.

Give them REAL eggs, not chocolate eggs

If you want to give your dogs eggs this Easter, you stillcan. But just make sure they’re of the REAL type – farm eggs! Eggs are a greatsource of digestible protein, riboflavin, and selenium for dogs. Did you knowthat all Big Dog raw products include eggs and we source them from AustralianFarmers #AussieProud.
